Studio #4- Story Telling

This project is an assignment called Studio #4- Telling Stories which I completed in my Light Design class. This project was about picking 5-minute section of music and using only that music and lighting to tell an emotional story. I chose to tell a sad but romantic story to a section of Pachelbel’s Canon in D. My project focused on using colors and movement in my lighting to help capture different emotions when telling my story. This project taught me a lot of new things when it comes down to how lighting works and why it is important in theatre from the emotions it creates with audience members to linking and showing connections between actors. The new skills that I have learned will make communicating about, how costumes and lighting effect each other and how they need to work together, much easier for me.

Ballgown Costume Construction

This project is a costume construction I made for Wardrobe Witchery, and it is a design from Glenn Breed for the Nutcracker at the Pensacola Ballet. This dress is one of my most recent constructions and I believe it is good example of my sewing skills. I wanted to make more dresses outside of schooling so working at Wardrobe Witchery has given me an amazing opportunity learn and experience more. This project was a good practice of my technical skills, and it also taught me how to make a dress base that can be changed through different designs. I sewed everything from the trim to the closers and the link below will show you more about my process.

Costume Designs of The Moors

This assignment is costume design renderings of the play The Moors by Jen Silverman. The Moors is a dark Victorian comedy about love, betrayal, and gender roles. All my costume renderings are based on the different character personalities, play setting, and the Victorian time period. To put all that different information into each costume and be able to show a director I made a slide show with a page of inspiration for each character. This was my first time designing a full show and it taught me how important being able to explain your designs is and that every detail is important. This was a great challenge for me I was able to learn what costume designer do for every show they are involved in and I’m excited to do more.

C.A.S.S.H Family Weekend Tailgate

Volunteering at the University of West Florida’s football tailgate to promote the C.A.S.S.H. department was meaningful for me both personally and professionally. While I was tasked with putting temporary tattoos on students and talking with their families, I had the chance to practice clear communication and represent the department in a positive way. This experience helped me become more confident when speaking with different types of people and taught me how important it is to make others feel welcome and informed. Personally, I enjoyed being part of a community event and seeing how small interactions can make a difference. Professionally, I gained transferable skills, such as communication, public engagement, and teamwork, that will support my future career goals. Overall, the event showed me how service can help build stronger connections within our campus community.
